Graduate Program

The Graduate Program ("Promotionsprogramm") "New materials with tailored properties" was established by the State of Lower Saxony at the Leibniz University of Hannover in 2001. It is located within the "Center for Solid-State Chemistry and New Materials" (ZFM).

The Graduate Program is carried by the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry, the Institute of Mechanical Engineering as well as by the Institute of Mineralogy at the Leibniz University of Hannover.

The Laser-Zentrum e.V. and the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry and the Institute of Technical Chemistry of the Technical University of Braunschweig are associated members.

General Aims:

• Research and education in the field of materials science
• Combination of research and interdisciplinary training during the graduation process
• Improving team work and social competences of the graduate students
• Effective recruiting of excellent graduate students

Graduate Students:

Currently 15 Graduate students participate in the Graduate Program. Most of them are supported by financially attractive Georg Christoph Lichtenberg-fellowships sponsored by the State of Lower Saxony. Furthermore the program is also open for other graduate students working on doctoral projects corresponding to the general aims of the Program.

Based on the numerous experiences with the currently running graduate program "New Materials with Tailored Properties" the ZFM applied for the new graduate school "Reactive Solids – Novel Materials" within the excellence initiative of the German government.
